Today will be on your own to discover Reykjavik, the vibrant capital of Iceland. Or join our unforgettable optional tour.
Optional program: Snæfellsnes Peninsula - Explore the most Beautiful Hidden Gems in Snæfellsnes Peninsula. U$ 240/per person
We will begin our tour by picking you up from the hotel or bus stop and embarking on an unforgettable journey to Snæfellsnes. Along the way, we will encounter newly-formed mountains resulting from volcanic eruptions, which produce awe-inspiring natural wonders.
Then, we will pass through Borgarnes, a charming town situated amidst picturesque mountains and a stunning fjord. This was one of the first settlements of Norwegian Vikings in Iceland. We may pause briefly in Borgarnes for refreshments before continuing north towards the Arctic Circle, which we will get very close to.
Our first destination on Snæfellsnes will be Ytri Tunga Beach, a paradise for animal enthusiasts and a location where wild seals reside. Ytri-Tunga is a sandy shore with a well-kept secret nestled by the sea, hidden behind farmsteads - a seal colony! These charming creatures love to bask on the rocks of this lovely beach, displaying their friendly and inquisitive natures, often climbing up the rocks for an ideal spot to be spotted by visitors.
Next, we will visit Búðir, an ancient hamlet situated amidst vast lava fields. Búðir was formerly known as Hraunhofn, meaning "The Harbor of Lava" in Icelandic. Today, the only standing structure in this once-thriving village is a small black wooden church called Búðakirkja, also known as the Black Church of Búdir. Recently, a modern hotel, Hotel Búðir, has been constructed. Built-in 1703, Búðakirkja has been deemed the most exquisite church in Iceland. According to folklore, an elderly lady instructed a man to spin around while holding an arrow until he felt dizzy, then shoot the arrow into the sky. The location where the arrow landed was deemed the spot for constructing the church.
Our next stop is Arnarstapi, a quaint fishing village nestled beneath a mountain and boasting one of the most beautiful harbors in the country. This small coastal hamlet features stunning seaside cliffs formed from molten magma battered by the tempestuous waves of the Atlantic Ocean. After thousands of years of erosion, beautiful stone arches and a remarkable marine geyser have emerged. During our visit to the coastline, we will share some captivating tales of Bárður, the half-man half-troll, and his exploits in the region. Later, we will pause at the magnificent Gatklettur, also known as the "Hellnar Arch," a naturally formed, awe-inspiring stone arch that serves as an incredible location for photographers and videographers alike.
We will also visit the Lóndrangar Basalt Cliffs, which consist of two colossal (75 meters high) basalt spires that are remnants of a volcanic crater that erupted tens of thousands of years ago. These spires are visible from the entire southern coastline and offer stunning views. The area is home to a diverse range of seabirds, including the northern fulmar and Iceland"s cherished puffins. Icelanders have been flocking to this site for around 1200 years, ever since the Vikings colonized Iceland. However, the locals refrain from farming in this area as they firmly believe that elves reside here.
Finally, we will visit Kirkjufell, the most iconic mountain in Iceland, which has been featured multiple times in the popular TV series Game of Thrones. Kirkjufell stands tall at 463 meters, making it the most stunning mountain in the Arctic. The mountain is accompanied by a beautiful lake at the base, which mirrors a perfect reflection of Kirkjufell.

Optional tour: Golden Circle & Farm Visit - Powerful Waterfall, Geysers, visit a typical farm & get some artisanal ice cream: U$129 per person
On the day of your tour, we will pick you up from your preferred bus stop or hotel in Reykjavik in the morning. The tour will take you through the renowned Golden Circle route, which is one of Iceland"s most popular destinations.
The Geysir Geothermal Area will be the first stop on the tour. This area boasts various hot springs, including Strokkur, a geyser that erupts every five minutes, spewing water up to 35 meters high. The geysers in the world derive their name from the original erupting hot spring, Geysir, which is now extinct.
Next, we"ll visit Gullfoss Waterfall, where the melting water from Langjökull, Iceland"s second-largest glacier, plunges into a deep canyon, creating the magnificent Golden Falls. On a sunny day, visitors can see the glacier in the distance and a rainbow in the waterfall"s mist, a perfect photo opportunity.
We"ll also stop at Efstidalur farm, which has been owned by the same family since 1850 and has preserved traditional Icelandic farming culture. The farm is known for its farm-to-table dairy and food products, and visitors can observe friendly animals, including cows and calves while enjoying the stunning mountain view and tasting delicious handmade ice cream.
The tour will also take us to Thingvellir National Park, where visitors can witness the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates moving apart, one of the few places in the world where this activity is visible. The park also hosts Iceland"s largest natural lake, with a diverse range of fish and bird species, and is significant to Icelandic national history, as it is where the parliament was established in 930 AD.
Finally, we’ll head back to Reykjavik, with an expected arrival time of around 5 pm, depending on weather and road conditions.
