Deer crackers are for sale around the park, and some deer have learned to bow to visitors to ask to be fed.

Yasaka-Jinja is dedicated to Susano, the god of the oceans, one of the Japanese mythology protagonists.
The shrine is located east of the district, at the end of Shijo-Dori shopping avenue. Yasaka-Jinja is particularly famous for hosting the path of the famous Gion Matsuri every summer in July, as well as celebrations of new year's eve. The Japanese also go through Yasaka during April to get to Maruyama Park, in order to attend Ohanami (sakura cherry blossoms).

Nijo Castle: (http://nijo-jocastle.city.kyoto.lg.jp/)
Kiyomizu Shrine: (http://www.kiyomizudera.or.jp/en/)
Kinkakuji Temple: (http://www.shokoku-ji.jp/k_access.html)
Fushimi Inari: (http://inari.jp/en/)
The optional tour will first make a stop at Nijo-jo Castle is one of Kyoto’s most popular and impressive sights. It shows the power that the Shoguns wielded over the emperors throughout the Edo Period. Nijo Castle is Kyoto's largest and best-preserved castle. It consists of two fortifications (kuruwa) in Japanese. The Ninomaru Palace, the main fortification of the castle, and the ruins of the Honmaru Palace, the second fortification, as well as support buildings and gardens. The castle is surrounded by stone walls and moats. It is one of the seventeen Historic Monuments of Ancient Kyoto which have been designated by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.
Kinkakuji (Golden Pavilion), a Zen temple in northern Kyoto whose top two floors are completely covered in gold leaf. Formally known as Rokuonji, the temple was the retirement villa of the shogun Ashikaga Yoshimitsu, and according to his will, it became a Zen temple of the Rinzai sect after his death in 1408. Kinkakuji was the inspiration for the similarly named Ginkakuji (Silver Pavilion), built by Yoshimitsu's grandson, Ashikaga Yoshimasa, on the other side of the city a few decades later. Kinkakuji is an impressive structure built overlooking a large pond and is the only building left of Yoshimitsu's former retirement complex. It has burned down numerous times throughout its history including twice during the Onin War, a civil war that destroyed much of Kyoto; and once again more recently in 1950 when it was set on fire by a fanatic monk. The present structure was rebuilt in 1955.
Then visit the Kiyomizu Shrine, one of the most celebrated temples of Japan. It was founded in 780 on the site of the Otowa Waterfall in the wooded hills east of Kyoto and derives its name from the fall's pure waters. The temple was originally associated with the Hosso sect, one of the oldest schools within Japanese Buddhism, but formed its own Kita Hosso sect in 1965. In 1994, the temple was added to the list of UNESCO world heritage sites.
Fushimi Inari Shrine, famous for its thousands of vermilion torii gates, which straddle a network of trails behind its main buildings. The trails lead into the wooded forest of the sacred Mount Inari, which stands at 233 meters and belongs to the shrine grounds. Fushimi Inari is the most important of several thousands of shrines dedicated to Inari, the Shinto god of rice. Foxes are thought to be Inari's messengers, resulting in many fox statues across the shrine grounds. Fushimi Inari Shrine has ancient origins, predating the capital's move to Kyoto in 794.
This morning, first visit Yokohama Harborland before traveling to Tokyo, the capital city of Japan, where over 11 million people live, making the population one of the largest in the world. Tokyo is not only the political and economical centre of Japan but also a centre of the world economy and culture. Tradition and modernity co-exist in today’s Tokyo.
Enjoy an orientation tour of Tokyo. First visit Meiji Shrine, a key Shinto religious site that was dedicated to the Imperial Family in 1926. Walk around the serene gardens that surround the shrine as you listen to more details about its importance from your guide. Then visit Nakamise Shopping Street, a brightly-colored thoroughfare of food vendors and souvenir stores that leads to Asakusa Kannon Temple (Senso-Ji), one of Japan’s most important Buddhist sites. Stay with your guide as you check out the elaborate gardens, architecture, and shrines that surround the site.
Make a stop at DUTY-FREE Shop and Ameyoko, a busy street market. On the way back to the hotel drive-by Shibuya and enjoy the colorful night view of Tokyo Tower, the landmark of Tokyo.

• Akihabara
• Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building
Tokyo Imperial Palace (Main residence of the Imperial Family), the current Imperial Palace is located on the former site of Edo Castle, a large park area surrounded by moats and massive stone walls in the center of Tokyo. Edo Castle used to be the seat of the Tokugawa shogun who ruled Japan from 1603 until 1867. In 1868, the shogunate was overthrown, and the country's capital and Imperial Residence were moved from Kyoto to Tokyo.
Tsukiji Outer Market (Market for fresh seafood and produce), is a district adjacent to the site of the former Tsukiji Wholesale Market. It consists of a few blocks of wholesale and retail shops, as well as restaurants crowded along narrow lanes. Here you can find fresh and processed seafood and produce alongside food-related goods such as knives.
Akihabara (District for electronic and otaku goods), also called Akiba after a former local shrine, is a district in central Tokyo that is famous for its many electronics shops. In more recent years, Akihabara has gained recognition as the center of Japan's otaku (diehard fan) culture, and many shops and establishments devoted to anime and manga are now dispersed among the electronic stores in the district.
Metropolitan Government Building (Twin tower with two free observation decks), in Shinjuku, is often visited by tourists for its free observation decks which provide good panoramic views of Tokyo and beyond. The 243-meter tall building has two towers, and each houses an observatory at a height of 202 meters. It had been the tallest building in Tokyo until it was overtaken by the Midtown Tower in 2007.

China is an exciting and thrilling tourist destination. There are
a few key things you need to keep in mind when traveling in China.
Before Packing
Check the weather of your destination a week
before your trip and get a sense of the clothes you'll need to pack. Determine
the purpose of your trip and decide what to pack. Make a packing list and mark
the number according to the importance. Leave keys, your contact information
and a copy of your travel itinerary to family or friends.
China Packing List
We suggest travelers pack as light as possible.
Pack smart ! Leave more space to make your tour comfortable and pleasant.
Essential Items
Passport, Visa, Insurance Policy and other
necessary travel documents. Air, cruise or train tickets. A guide book or

with your detailed contact information including full name, address, phone
number. Credit card, Traveler's checks, and cash. First-aid kit. Your medical
record and medicines like vitamins, Pepto Bismol and Imodium chew-able.
Toiletries. Alarm clock or watch with an alarm. Pocket tissues. As most public
bathrooms in China do not offer toilet paper, and you'll be glad that you have
some when you need it.
Clothing/\Weather
The casual outdoor clothes are highly
recommended. A pair of comfortable walking shoes. Socks, pants, and underwear.
An umbrella and waterproof. Laundry bag. Bring clothes according to what season
you are traveling. If you are going to board the Yangtze River Cruise on your
trip, make sure to bring along one or two sets of smart causal dress for
evening banquets.
Spring (Mar - May): Western suites, sports
coats, jackets, sweater, long sleeve shirts. Summer (Jun - Aug): T-shirts,
short sleeve shirts, skirts, sandals, caps, rain wear. Autumn (Sep - Nov):
Western suits, jackets, sports coats, light woolen sweaters, rain wear. Winter
(Dec - Feb): Down garment, overcoat, thick woolen sweaters, lined coats, cap,
gloves and cotton-padded shoes.
Other Items/Electricity
Camera and batteries. Camcorder. Mobile phone.
Chargers of your cell phone, digital camera, etc. The electricity used in China
is 220 volt AC. Wash rooms in many middle and high-class hotels are equipped
with transformer plugs for electric shavers and hair dryers. For safety
purpose, preparing an adapter is a much better idea.
Currency Exchange
China's legal currency is Renminbi, shortened as
CNY. Also known as Chinese Yuan. When you purchase small items such as bottle
water, snacks, small souvenir, use cash is more convenient. We recommend you
exchange Chinese cash at the front desk in the hotels you stay. 300 -500 CAD or
USD /person is enough to start off. Airport is usually not a good place for
exchanging money as the rate is not the best.
China Packing Tips
Make copies for all your necessary materials and
keep the copied items separately from the original one. Store a backup of your
information in your email account or on a USB thumb drive. Do not carry too
much cash. Do not carry expensive jewelry and watches. Do not keep your credit
card and identification card together. Do not pack excessive quantities of
drugs as you may have problems at China Customs. Rolling your clothes together
instead of folding them one by one to save space. Put the items you regularly
use at the top of your carry on. Leave some room in your bags for gifts and
souvenirs. Always put the valuables in the hotel safe and clear your safe when
checking out.
Travel Safety & Security
China is relatively a safe country to travel
around compared with some other countries.
Hotel Preferred Bedding Configuration
- Twin Room (two separate beds)
- Double Room (one bed)
*Requests are not guaranteed and are subject to
each hotel's discretion and availability.
During The Tour
Never drink the tap water in the hotels. Never
let the stranger come into your room. If someone is knocking at your door,
never open the door until his identity is verified. If your passport is not
needed, never carry it along with you all the time just in case. Keeping a
photo copy of your passport is a wise choice. When hanging out in the bustling
places like open markets and busy streets, be care of your belongings in case
of theft, especially camera, purse, and so on. Avoid traveling alone since you
are not familiar with the places. Ask the policemen or seniors for help in case
you are lost and they would be of great help for you. Never return back to the
hotel too late when you are alone. Always exchange money at the Bank of China
or at the hotel counters. Never exchange money in the black market. Get small
bills prepared before getting out since street vendors, taxi, restaurants,
convenience stores only take RMB cash and major credit cards are widely
accepted in big shopping malls.
China Washrooms
In China, most of the toilets are squatting
ones. Clean sit-down toilets are commonly available in hotels. If you want to
find a bathroom on the street, just look for the sign of "WC"
Since paper tissue is rarely provided in a washroom, always carry
yours.
What Vaccines Do I Need To Travel In China?
Based on personal medical history and advice
from the Public Health Agency of Canada, the following vaccinations are
recommended for travel to China:
- Japanese Encephalitis: This virus occurs in
almost all Asian countries, including parts of China. Vaccination is
recommended for those spending extended periods of time outside and in parts of
southern China where irrigation is done through flooding.
- Rabies: Rabies is spread through the saliva or
scratch of an infected animal. China has the one of the highest number of
reported Rabies cases in the world, and vaccination is recommended for travel.
- Polio: Though the last Polio case was reported
in China in 1994, the country borders Afghanistan and Pakistan, two countries
where the virus is still an endemic. Ensure your vaccination is up-to-date.
- Hepatitis A: Hepatitis A is spread to humans
through contaminated food and water or contact with an infected person. This
shot is recommended especially if you plan to sample some of China’s many
street food offerings
- Hepatitis B: Hepatitis B is a serious liver
disease commonly spread through sexual intercourse, exchange of body fluids,
use of an infected needle, or piercing tools.
