The best part of our trip to the Beijing and Shanghai regions were the people we met. The night we went out to try hotpot for the first time at a local mall, one of the wait staff there took us under her wing. She could tell we had no idea what we were doing! We couldn't speak the same language, but she went into instant grandma mode, put our bibs on, and showed us how to enjoy our meal. We felt welcome and cared for.
