London, the capital of England and the United Kingdom, is a 21st-century city stretching back to Roman times. At its centre stand the imposing Houses of Parliament, the iconic ‘Big Ben’ clock tower and Westminster Abbey, the site of British monarch coronations. Across the Thames River, the London Eye observation wheel provides panoramic views of the South Bank cultural complex and the entire city.
Paris, France`s capital, is a major European city and a global center for art, fashion, gastronomy and culture. Its 19th-century cityscape is crisscrossed by wide boulevards and the River Seine. Beyond such landmarks as the Eiffel Tower and the 12th-century, Gothic Notre-Dame cathedral, the city is known for its cafe culture and designer boutiques along the Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré.
Why visit Paris and London
Paris, presumably more than any other European city, is associated with many world-famous features. Few places do landmarks quite as well as the city of love, with an abundance of landmarks, museums, and cathedrals to visit, from the iconic Eiffel Tower to the gothic Notre Dame to the Louvre and gardens galore. Patisseries, boulangeries, and boucheries can be found on every street corner in Paris, and as the cultural capital, the city has an abundance of foodie options. Whether you want fine dining or a casual affair, Paris will satisfy and satiate even the fussiest palate.
London is one of the world`s most vibrant cities, and there is always a reason or excuse to visit. Whatever your interests are, England`s capital has something for you, from its rich history to its world-class tourist attractions, good food and ambiance, to name a few. Many famous London sights, such as Big Ben, the Tower of London, Buckingham Palace, the London Eye, and many others, should be seen in person at least once in your life, rather than only in movies, television shows, or photographs.
Other Items/Electricity
Please choose 230V voltage electrical appliances; most European countries use cylindrical two-end plugs; please buy a universal switch plug at home.
What to pack and what to wear for a trip to London and Paris
Check the weather forecast before your trip. Nothing will ruin your trip faster than being unprepared with the wrong clothing for the weather. Once you’ve researched the weather, you can focus on creating a capsule travel wardrobe, which should easily fit in a carry-on suitcase with the help of packing cubes to compress your clothing.
Packing for Weather
Spring (March-May):
As London transitions from winter to spring, the weather can vary from warm and sunny to cold and rainy. On average, daily highs range from 53°F (12°C) to 64°F (18°C), with lows between 43°F (6°C) and 55°F (13°C).
A popular time of the year to visit the French capital, spring in Paris starts chilly, with daily highs of around 54°F (12°C) in March. By May, the weather warms up to a very pleasant 68°F (20°C) - perfect for spending the day exploring the city`s beautiful gardens and parks. Nights remain pretty cold throughout the season, and don’t be surprised by light showers. Always carry a lightweight jacket with a zip-on hood, just in case.
Summer (June - August):
Summers in London are generally mild and pleasant, but not without occasional rain showers. The day is long, with high temperatures around 70°F (21°C) to 73°F (23°C) degrees and lows around 59°F (15°C). While you can leave the winter wear at home, we recommend packing a light jacket or sweater for chilly summer evenings.
This is the height of the tourist season in Paris, accompanied by matching high temperatures. Expect daily highs of at least 83°F (25°C), accompanied by brisk nights of around 55°F (13°C).
Autumn (September - November):
Warm summer weather usually lasts through September before the temperatures begin to drop sharply in October. Expect highs ranging from 68°F (20°C) down to 53°F (12°C), with lows around 50°F (10°C). Autumn is usually London’s rainiest season, so be prepared for wet weather.
Paris temperatures cool down quite a bit beginning in October. Be prepared for the occasional chilly rain shower and a bit of wind. Daily highs range anywhere from 46°F (8°C) to 62°F (17°C), so please pack accordingly.
Winter (December - February):
Winters in London are characterized by cold and often rainy weather. The average high between December and February is 48°F (9°C), and the average low is 41°F (5°C). Be sure to pack a winter coat, hat, gloves and scarf.
Enhanced by the occasional dusting of snow, visiting Paris in winter can be a magical experience. Expect daily highs of 46°F (8°C) and nighttime temperatures near freezing.
